Motorists across Nottingham are learning about cashless parking on
Facebook, as RingGo parking rolls out across the City. From today,
Council operated on- and off-street parking is offering RingGo as an
alternative to cash payments, enabling people to pay with their credit
or debit card instead.
As well as a standard local media launch, Nottingham City Council is supporting RingGo's introduction with a social media campaign. The advertisement is believed to be the first of its kind, promoting the launch of a UK cashless parking service through the popular Facebook website.
Cllr Jane Urquhart, Nottingham City Council's Portfolio Holder for Transport and Area Working, says "RingGo uses the latest technology to make parking in Nottingham even easier. The City Council is using web, Facebook and other social media to publicise the service, so it really is a ground-breaking solution to Nottingham's parking needs."
Anne Snelson, Marketing Manager for RingGo comments "Social Media is a great way to spread the news about cashless parking to local people. Information about RingGo is obviously available at the parking location for anyone wanting to pay by phone. But through Facebook, people can find out about the service in advance and be ready to use it when they come to park."
"Historically, RingGo usage has spread most by word of mouth, simply because people try the service, like it and talk about it with their friends. Facebook just extends that process on-line, making it even quicker and easier to spread the good news."
