RingGo Shortlisted for Telecoms Innovation Award

 8th Jul 2010

Southwark Council, together with Cobalt Telephone Technologies, have been shortlisted for a national Innovation Award for their introduction of RingGo - the UK's leading phone parking service - across the London Borough of Southwark.

The two organisations have been recognised for one of Public Sector Information's annual "Good Communication Awards", which highlight excellence, effectiveness and innovation in public sector communications across the UK.

The awards cover four main categories - Print, Public Relations, IT and Telecoms - and Cobalt and Southwark Council have been shortlisted within the Telecoms section.  Sponsored by Vodafone, the Innovation Award will be presented to the local authority or central government department that the senior panel of judges believe best demonstrates an effective use of a new, or emerging, communication technology.

Anne Snelson, Marketing Manager for Cobalt Telephone Technologies, RingGo's parent company comments, "These are prestigious awards which last year attracted more than 200 entries from across the UK, so we are very pleased RingGo has been shortlisted."

"Without question, RingGo is an innovative way to pay for your parking, but the Good Communication awards focus, not just on the level of innovation involved, but also on the way the service is communicated to members of the public.  Cobalt has put considerable time and effort into making it as clear and easy to use the service as possible - so it's great that this hard work has been recognised."

The Good Communication awards, hosted this year by BBC News presenter Nicholas Owen, take place in Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, London, on Thursday 15th July 2010.
