RingGo in Cutting Edge Parking Drama

 3rd Apr 2007

If you're a Production Manager responsible for a convoy of 31 trucks, cars and buses and you choose to stop for filiming in a quiet off-street Chiswick car park, how many pound coins are you going to need to pay for a day's parking?  Fortunately for Jane McGee, from Channel 4's 'Cutting Edge' series, the answer to this maths problem was... none!  Instead, Ms McGee called RingGo phone parking and quoted the location code for Welstead Way car park in the London Borough of Hounslow.

Jane takes up the story, "We were making a promo trailer for the new series, based around the theme of 'curiosity'.  This involved net curtain twitching, looking down manholes etc, and we needed somewhere to set up.  Well, I was certainly surprised and curious about mobile phone parking, as otherwise I'd have needed a Securicor man to escort me back from the bank with hundreds of pounds of change!  So I called the RingGo number.

"It took a little while to log all our vehicles, not least reading out all the registration numbers.  But the guy on the service desk was incredibly helpful and the whole process was rather a giggle.  RingGo really helped me get on with my job."

Joanna Miller, Technical Director of Cobalt Telephone Technologies, creators of RingGo, was pleased to hear how their in-house round the clock call-centre  had handled this unusual request.  "This shows that, although our voice recognition software can deal with most eventualities, it's always good to have smart people ready to pick up a call when necessary.  Normally our customers log only one or two vehicles to their mobile number, so 31 was completely unexpected.  But the system swallowed all the information, and when Jane wants to park her convoy with RingGo again, we'll still have all the data to hand and it'll be done in minutes."
