A hospital trip is a stressful time for both patients and visitors. So parking, and having the necessary change for a machine, is the last thing on people's minds. An additional worry is the length of stay - if you're the one in the hospital gown, you don't want to be popping back to the car park for another ticket.
But visitors to Colindale Hospital in Barnet, North London, have a new way of dealing with this issue: they call RingGo to park using their mobile phone, and then 'top up' the time as necessary without having to return to their vehicles. This approach is already reporting a very positive response after its introduction at the beginning of March. "Emotions are often running high when visiting a hospital, and so we are pleased to be able to help make the process of paying for parking as easy as possible." commented Harry Clarke, Commercial Director of Cobalt Telephone Technologies, creators of RingGo, "Of course, hospital car park charges are controversial, but sadly they are necessary in most locations to discourage the spaces being used by opportunist commuters or shoppers. What RingGo can do, however, is to help make it as easy as possible to pay and, importantly in this context, give motorists the chance to extend a stay without returning to their car should it prove necessary"
