Bournemouth Borough Council today announced its plans to offer RingGo mobile phone parking as a means of payment across all 45 of its off-street car parks.
This bold rollout represents another first for RingGo. Other towns and cities have implemented small scale trials involving fewer than ten car parks. In almost all cases these trials have been based on foreign technologies. The scale of this rollout is however much larger. Bournemouth has boldly chosen to implement cashless parking across all 45 of their car parks at a single stroke.
"As a forward thinking authority we have been wanting to offer mobile phone payment for some time" said Gerry Bolland, Parking Manager for Bournemouth Borough Council. "Naturally we needed to be certain that we chose the right solution, particularly bearing in mind the many visitors to the area. We recognise that many of the motorists that will park here may well be encountering mobile phone based parking for the first time. Therefore we were adamant that we should have a solution that was easy for the first time user. RingGo was our clear choice."
The plans for the deployment are well advanced, with the aim of deploying RingGo to all 45 car parks by the beginning of the summer holiday season.
