Glenn Caldwell, parking manager of Sydney, Australia paid a flying
visit to Chiswick High Road this afternoon (17 June) to try out the
RingGo phone parking system as part of a fact-finding review of UK best
practice.
Mr Caldwell was welcomed by Kevin Hagan, parking
manager of the London Borough of Hounslow, with whom he then toured the
Eastern end of the borough, meeting and chatting with several of the
parking attendants responsible for enforcing the award winning RingGo
scheme.
"Phone parking is clearly changing the way in which
motorists pay for parking in the UK" noted Caldwell " With RingGo
having been adopted in four London Boroughs and with more following, it
is clearly a popular and uncontroversial service that motorists like
and I am here to understand why."
"We are always delighted to
be able to share our knowledge of successful phone parking with
colleagues from both within the UK and beyond" said Hagan "Although we
were the first London Borough to roll phone parking to all of our on
and off street parking bays I was nonetheless slightly surprised to
find that the news of our success has travelled so far."
Mr
Caldwell, who also took the time to visit the RingGo implementation in
Southwark the previous afternoon, has been pursuing a whistle-stop
schedule of meetings with other leading parking equipment vendors
whilst in Europe.
