Ring and Go with Chiltern Railways

 28th Jul 2008

From today (28 July), Chiltern Railways passengers at selected sites can use RingGo - the innovative pay by phone service - to park their cars. Passengers travelling from Banbury, Bicester North, High Wycombe and Warwick Parkway can now pay for their parking using just their mobile phone and a credit or debit card, rather than with a handful of cash.

RingGo parking is already offered locally, in council-operated car parks in Banbury, Bicester and High Wycombe, and the solution has been well received there, as it has across the country. This means that many local people will have already registered with the service and be used to using the specially-tailored "voice recognition" system to park.

Historic pay and display machines will still be available to those not wishing to use RingGo, but regular rail travellers are likely to appreciate the time saving the new system offers. Once registered, paying for parking takes less than a minute - considerably quicker than walking to and from the machine to buy a ticket. The added bonus, for rushed travellers, is that RingGo parking can be purchased from the car, on the way to the platform, or even from the platform itself - saving precious extra minutes.

Registering for the service takes a couple of minutes and can be done online at www.RingGo.co.uk, or by ringing the local number displayed in the four Chiltern Railways car parks - 01753 202 0000 - when you want to park. Should users experience any difficulty during the call, there is reassurance from knowing they will automatically transfer to RingGo's dedicated customer service team.

Harry Clarke, commercial director for Cobalt Telephone Technologies says "This part of the country has seen great take up and growth in RingGo, so we are particularly pleased that Chiltern Railways has decided to adopt the service, too. We are sure people using these stations will appreciate the benefits RingGo can provide - both in saving time and being able to use their change for a cup of coffee and a newspaper - rather than having to save it up for their parking."
