 | Cobalt Telephone Technologies, parent company of the UK's leading
cashless parking service, RingGo, has been honoured by the Mayor of
Basingstoke, Councillor Brian Gurden, as he singled out the company to
receive the 2009/10 Mayor's Award to Business, in recognition of the
contribution the company has made to life in Basingstoke. The ceremony
took place as part of the Annual Council meeting, on Thursday, 20 May
2010, in Basingstoke Council Chambers. | Cobalt follows in the footsteps of some of Basingstoke's most famous companies in receiving this award, which is made to a single business by the outgoing Mayor. Previous recipients include Winterthur Life, Motorola, Sun Life Financial of Canada and Eli Lilly. With just 34 employees, Cobalt is one of the smallest companies to receive the award in its 10 year history - a fact which obviously resonates with Commercial Director, Harry Clarke.
He comments "We are truly humbled to find ourselves chosen to follow in the footsteps of companies such as these. Big employers: with global brands. Companies we would never normally associate ourselves with. But as the Mayor has pointed out, it is the small, successful companies that will drive economic recovery in this country. The companies that have the foresight and flexibility to pursue innovation doggedly and achieve what larger companies can sometimes only dream of."
"This is what Cobalt constantly strives to do and every employee in this business works towards this single vision. I count myself extremely fortunate to have such an amazing group of like-minded colleagues - and it is thanks to them entirely, that Cobalt has been honoured with this award."
